Work/Life Balance . . . I GOT A JOB!

A few months ago, I wrote about how being unemployed sucked and being at home was starting to make me weary

Well beautiful people of the internet, I got a job!

Tomorrow will be my third week and so far so good. I don’t want to jinx it by praising it then two months down the line I’m writing blogs titled ‘I hate it here’ or ‘Save me from a 9-5’. I hope my sense of humour came through at the end of that last sentence. On a serious note, I’m liking it so far and I hope it stays that way for as long as possible. I don’t work well in toxic work environments and my productivity drastically decreases when I’m in that type of space so I rather not be in one.

The thing with working is it takes up a large portion of your time. There’s only 24 hours in a day, when you minus sleeping hours and working hours there isn’t much time for yourself. Someone needed me last week but I couldn’t be there for them at that time because I was sleeping. I didn’t handle that feeling well simply because I like being there for the people I love and care about. When I can’t be it makes me really sad.

I already knew finding a healthy work/life balance would take some time but me being me thought I’d only need 2 weeks to adjust. I had to be honest with myself this week, I’m going to need more time.

I have to figure how to replenish and take self-care days for myself. I’m in a relationship so I have to find time for my partner. I have my amazing close circle of friends that I want to stay connected with. Gotta factor in family time. My blog needs my attention as well because I don’t want to stop writing. I have other little things to schedule time for too.

But there’s only 24 hours in a day . . .

I’m happy and grateful for the job opportunity, I need it to help with goals I’ve set for myself. I just don’t want it to consume my life and be my only focus. I’ll figure it out and keep you guys updated on how it goes. In the meantime, if anyone has any advice or tips pleaseeeee feel free to share in the comments below.

  1. Congrats on the job 🥳 What is helping me right now since my job got busier is to split my weekdays into 3: 8hrs to sleep, 8hrs to work, 8hrs for myself. I wake up at half 4 on mornings and generally don’t leave the house till about 7/7:15 so the first bit of the day is for me. It has really helped me to recentre my life.

  2. Congratulations!! That’s great news 🙂 I started my new job last August and I’m still working on my work-life balance, it’s sort of a little project I continually work on… I’m sure you will find a way that works for you
